First let’s discuss the way to remove the fabric from a fixed canvas awning. You will need the help of another person for this purpose.
You need to untie the knot from the end of the wing. Make sure that it is nearest to the house. Then, you need to pull out the lacing. You have to do this until you reach the end. Toss the rope on top of the awnings, do not untie the rope from the awning.
You need to repeat the same process on the other side as well.
After this you need to untie and loosen up the front part of the canvas awning. Do make sure to start from the center. Here also do not untie the strings from the ends of the awnings when unlacing the rope on the awning’s sides.
Then you have to undo up the Velcro sleeves and then the head rod. These will be situated adjacent to the wall of your home.
You need to place it back for storage after removing the fabric from the head rod. Here you can tighten the nuts. This can be done by hand. This is done to provide more security.
Now, you need to pleat the awnings in order to take them down. To make the process smoother you need to pleat the fabric starting from front to back. Finish folding from both ends to the center. This is how you remove awnings (fixed) step by step.
Now let us discuss the steps to remove awnings (retractable). For this, you need to follow the steps mentioned next.
You need to retract the awning and keep it in resting position. During this time, you will see that the fabric has slid into a groove in the channel of the awning. There are stop clamps which prevents the fabric from sliding out.
With the help of a screwdriver remove one of the end covers of the awning. Make sure to remove the end cover that is furthest to the manual crank. Then you have to remove the stop clamps. After that, you need to take out the valance fabric of the awning in question.
Now all you have to do is unroll the fabric. Do this after you lock both arms of the awning. This can be done by using a rope. It needs to be tied at both ends. This helps the awning to stay in place while you unroll the fabric.
You can either unroll by using the remote or with the help of the manual override option. The choice is yours.
When the central groove is a little bit over the front bar and you start seeing the main roller, stop unrolling it. You have to remove the stop clamp present on the front bar and pull the fabric through the channel.
